DNVGL Sesam HydroD 6.1.01

Description

HydroD is an interactive application for computation of hydrostatics and stability, wave loads and motion response for
ships and offshore structures. The wave loads and motions are computed by Wadam or Wasim in the Sesam suite of
programs.

HydroD is now developed on a new IT platform in accordance with DNV Digital Solutions technology roadmap. The
last version on the old platform is HydroD 4.10. Development of the new HydroD to replace HydroD 4 is done in three
main steps. HydroD 5 supports stability analysis only, while in HydroD 6 support for Wadam is added.
HydroD 6.0 has
full support for Wadam in addition to the stability analysis
except multibody analyses. Multibody has been included in
current release
version 6.1. For Wasim users the current official version is HydroD 4.10. Support for Wasim is planned
to be included in HydroD 7.

TutorialWadam1 adds some new features, in addition, two new tutorials, TutorialMultiBodyWadam and TutorialDipole,
have been added in the Examples folder. It is recommended that the users go through these tutorials as a start. A clean
js file with all the modelling is also attached for all tutorials.

2 NEW FEATURES

2.1 Support for Wadam multi-body analysis

Wadam multi body analysis is supported in version 6.1. Notice that in HydroD 6.1 an analysis only needs to be defined
as multi-body if it includes more than one regular body. There are several limitations when doing multi-body analysis.
Datachecks for these have been implemented.

2.2 Support for dipole elements in Wadam

This is a major new feature in Wadam 10.1. Dipole elements are implemented for both the panel model and
compartment model. The elements are selected by using sets.

2.3 Support for other new features in Wadam 10.1.

All new features in Wadam 10.1 are supported. In addition to the dipole elements the two most important are:

Middle-field computation of mean drift forces

Directional dependent critical damping

The datachecks are updated according to Wadam 10.1.

2.4 More general HeelingForceModel

In HydroD 6.1 it is possible to include several HeelingForce concepts in one HeelingForceModel. As an example, this
allows for adding User defined heeling forces to a Shape coefficient model. This is particularly important for stability
analysis of floating wind turbines.

2.5 Other new features

Improved datachecks

Improved handling of additional matrices
